About
Wind Down Daily is made by Anton Fray, in Dubai. One person builds it and the same person answers the support email.
Why the app has no library
Every other wind down app hands you a shelf and a search bar. That is fine at two in the afternoon. At eleven at night, after the kind of day that put you there, choosing is the part that does not happen, and the app gets closed again. So the choosing was taken out. Three taps, seven seconds, and the practice for that evening opens by itself.
How the practices were chosen
Every block is built from one of a few families that have actually been studied in people: gentle muscle relaxation, comfortable slow breathing, supplied imagery, and short guided rest. Where the research is thin, the page says so instead of dressing it up. Techniques that could not be backed were left out, including popular ones, and two of them were cut after the scripts had already been written and recorded.
What this is not
I am not a doctor, a therapist or a sleep scientist, and this app is not treatment. If you take something a doctor prescribed, keep taking it and talk to your doctor. If you have been waking most nights for months, or someone has told you that you stop breathing in your sleep, go and get looked at. If you are in crisis, contact your local emergency number or a crisis line in your country.
The voice
The practices are read by a synthetic voice, chosen so that the pacing and the pauses land in the same place every night. It seemed better to say that here than to let you work it out.
What the app keeps
Three numbers an evening, and that is all. You can decline even those and still use the app on a fixed order. Nothing is sold, nothing goes to advertisers, and everything can be wiped from inside the app in two taps. The detail is on the privacy page.
